INEGI has 15 researchers among the 2% most cited in the world

There are 15 INEGI researchers who are part of the list of the most cited scientists and researchers worldwide. Known as the top 2% in the world (out of a total of 7 million scientists and researchers), this annual ranking is carried out by Stanford University and published by the prestigious publisher Elsevier, based on citation metrics to characterize impact and influence of the work of researchers from around the world.

Of the 790 Portuguese researchers referenced in the study, 15 are affiliated with INEGI and LAETA - Associate Laboratory of Energy, Transports and Aerospace. They are: Abílio de Jesus (FEUP), António Joaquim Mendes Ferreira (FEUP), António Mendes Lopes (FEUP), António Torres Marques (FEUP), Daniel G. Costa (FEUP), João Manuel R.S. Tavares (FEUP), Lucas Filipe Silva (FEUP), Marcelo Moura (FEUP), Pedro Camanho (FEUP), Pedro Ribeiro (FEUP), Rui Miranda Guedes (FEUP), Teresa Mata (INEGI), Giuseppe Catalanotti (UÉvora), Raul Campilho (ISEP) and Francisco Gomes Silva (ISEP).

They stand out in several areas of research, from energy, composite materials, advanced manufacturing technologies, advanced monitoring and structural integrity, biomechanics and health, among others.

In addition to the most cited researchers, the study also lists scientists with the greatest impact, that is, with the highest number of citations throughout their career. In this list, 13 of those highlighted are affiliated with INEGI. They are: António Joaquim Mendes Ferreira (FEUP), António Mendes Lopes (FEUP), António Torres Marques (FEUP), Armando Oliveira (FEUP), João Manuel R.S. Tavares (FEUP), Lucas Filipe Silva (FEUP), Marcelo Moura (FEUP), Pedro Camanho (FEUP), Pedro Ribeiro (FEUP), Rui Miranda Guedes (FEUP), Teresa Mata (INEGI), Giuseppe Catalanotti (UÉvora) and Raul Campilho (ISEP).
