INEGI trains professionals in Cape Verde in wind power systems maintenance

28 May 2021
The Center for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI) and the 3C Competence Center of Cape Verde received, last April, a training program taught by INEGI specialists dedicated to «Maintenance of Medium-Size Wind Systems».

Cape Verdean engineers and technicians had the opportunity to learn more about the different components and applications of a wind system, how to plan its installation and maintenance using weather forecasting tools, and the safety devices and personal protective equipment.

João Nuno Sousa, coordinator and trainer of the program, says that "for a week it was possible to share the experience resulting from 30 years of activity in the field of wind energy and to transmit good practices that will contribute to more efficient and safer maintenance actions".

Edson Mendes, general director of 3C Centro Competências de Cabo Verde, on the other hand, points out that the training was essential to reinforce the skills of the technical team, and hopes "that this training action will be the beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration between the entities involved" .

The training implemented in partnership with the 3C Centro Competências de Cabo Verde, is one of the initiatives foreseen in the collaboration protocol signed in 2019 between INEGI and the Cape Verdean center CERMI, focused on the field of energy.
